The organizing committee for the 4th Canadian Conference on Hemoglobinopathies, THRIVE, invites abstract submissions to be considered for oral or poster presentation at the conference.

Although the committee encourages, and priority will be given to, abstracts that address specific issues, approaches or strategies that contribute to Hemoglobinopathies, submissions will be accepted in the areas of Sickle Cell Disease,Thalassemia or other congenital Hemoglobin disorders and rare anemias. Research presented at other Canadian or international conferences is welcome. However the presentation of research findings accepted for publication or published will not be considered.

Judge Based prizes will be awarded for :

  • Best Overall Abstract
  • Best Allied Health Abstract
  • Best Trainee Abstract

THRIVE Attendees Based prize will be awarded for:

  • Highest Ranked Abstract

Deadlines and Requirements:

Deadline for Submission:
Abstract submission opens April 1, 2017.

The deadline to submit an abstract is Friday, July 21, at 5:00 PM EST- Deadline Extended to Friday, July 28, at 5:00 PM EST

Word Limit for Abstracts:
Please limit your abstract words to no more than 300 words excluding the title, and include an introduction, hypothesis, method, results and conclusion. Authors should indicate their title, and mention if they are trainee, post-doctoral fellow, allied health care professional, or physician.

Acceptance/Rejection Notification:

Notification regarding acceptance or rejection of abstracts will be sent to the presenting author by email before August 7, 2017. If your abstract is accepted, the email will specify whether it is accepted as an oral, poster presentation, or both.
